Goodbye 23, Hello 24! So yes, it is my birthday!!
It’s that time again, another year has wiped by, and another year older. I’m no longer in the “no one cares about you now that you are 23”, to now ….. Nothing. There is no sayings for those who turn 24.
My top 3 sayings for being 24 years of age so far:
- 24 and so much more?
- I’m 18 with 6 years of experience. (=24 if you are bad at math)
- Generic 24
So my thoughts on being 24 makes me sad for 3 reasons. Reason 1, I'm starting to panic because I'm so much closer to 25, than I was at 18 and it's nerve-racking, you know? Reason 2, I thought my man and I would own our first home by now, and that so not a reality any time soon only because we both decided to go back to school and get MBA degree. It's definitely going to be a huge possibility once we are done with school, but what you don't know is my man is moving away for an entire year (my entire 24th year of life) to go finish his degree. Reason 3, my man and I have been together for 2.5 years now and we've know each other since sophomore year in high school, and the next step in our relationship is to either get engaged or pregnant, and we can't have a baby when we are both in school.
So if you are about to turn 24 or just recently turned 24, or you are way younger or older and thought nothing really happens when you are 24, I have some “fun facts” that I found from the internet of some “perks” you encounter at this age.
You probably have more money than you’ve ever earned before.
You probably aren’t in college, recent graduate, and can actually enjoy weekends. (I’m getting my masters and only completed ¼ of the schooling and am about to lose my shit… but that’s like a Tuesday for me at this time of my life. LOL)
You probably get along with your parents better now that you a “real adult age” now.
#3, but with your siblings. This I would say varies cause my family is kind of like the Kardashian’s, someone is always upset with the other (low key). We probably should have our own show with how crazy my family and the in-law families intertwined.
You are starting to feel comfortable and confident in your own skin, if you aren’t already.
Your sex life is blooming, I’m hoping. (Soo... good for you, honey!)
You could be in a serious relationship, and now its just the norm for you to be engaged, married, pregnant and/or having your first baby. I call this the “next big milestone” age.
You are probably living in a better living environment now than where you were in college. (earning that big money, duh!)
You are starting to travel the world, because you can actually afford it now.
You have picked a partner that is also at the same place in your life, that if ever struggling they can help you out financially. (to an extent I hope, don’t depend on them too much because you don’t want to be that person in the relationship, and you wouldn’t want to date someone like that either)
You probably know what you want to do in your life (I am truly hoping)
You have identified what type of drunk girl/guy you are now. (For me, I’m the loud friend, aka the entertainer. And I’m a hell of a wing woman, you’re welcome)
You can talk smart to younger people. (I sure as hell don’t do this, if you use big words with me to show how smart you are, you’ve officially lost my attention and are no longer interesting. NOT sorry.)
You can directly identify and communicate what you like and don’t like.
You feel proud to be your parents kid. (giving my parents bragging rights at this point in my life, gives me life!)
You truly feel like you’ve “made it”. (You go Glen Coco!)
You are no longer a slob kabob meaning you clean up after yourself. (If you live like a dirty hobo, you can’t hide it and all your friends and family know, no matter how well you hide it…. WE KNOW!)
You can now relate to adult conversation. (I’m an old soul so I’ve been confident with adult talk for most of my life)
You know your signature “go to” alcoholic beverage. (I still don’t only because my BFF said that sour beer, sauvignon blanc, and red sangria doesn’t count. On my actual 24th birthday I tried a gin and tonic…. Honey, i will not put my name on that drink. It tastes like nail polish remover, and yes I know what that tastes like. Don’t ask.)
You feel happy to show your ID. (I do not agree with this “perk” because I’m lazy as fuck, and it’s insulting that you are going to make me dig in my bag to get my I.D. just for you to look at it for 1.3 seconds)
I reworded most of these because you came to the blog to be entertained and those in the link are not as good as mine. (LOVE YOU!)
